Catherine Golden, a Professor of Victorian literature at Skidmore College, will lead the first part of the workshop by teaching the meanings of popular flowers drawn from Kate Greenaway’s The Language of Flowers (1884); then you can select among these flowers for your own bouquet. Each participant will create a personalized tussy mussy, also called a posy or nosegay, to take home.  In addition, these small bouquets were placed in a cone vase and often displayed on a stand. Pam Golden, the artist who made the Birch Tree sculptures on the Wiawaka grounds, will lead the second portion of the workshop—making and decorating a cone-shaped tussy mussy holder out of clay to hold your gift of love.
