This week’s class: CollageIt!
This class is based on MeCards4Kids®. A SoulCollage® facilitator created this innovative collage process for children. In this class children (and parents too)will create a collage out of magazine images, torn papers and photos. They will then write an “I am” poem inspired by their collages. The “I am” consists of sentence starters that stimulate children’s imagination.  Due to the fact that making a collage does not require “artistic skill”, and young children can dictate their poems to an adult, this process is manageable for 4 year olds and up!

Note: Wiawaka is normally reserved for women 18+, however in an effort to reach women in all walks of life we have added these special Mommy and Me afternoons so that women with young children can enjoy Wiawaka too! We ask that Moms keep their children with them at all times at the designated area for this program for both safety reasons and to be respectful to our other guests who come for peace and relaxation.

Victorian Valentines and Messages of Love: Discussion & Craft
August 6, 2018  3-5pm

missives to humorous cards urging a bachelor to marry and even insulting cards, called vinegar valentines. Since women and men frequently bought supplies from stationer’s shops and made their own valentines and greeting cards, we will turn from discussion to craft. Pam, the artist who made the Birch Tree sculptures on the Wiawaka grounds, will guide our making of valentines or greeting cards adorned with tender verses, lace, silk, cut-paper flowers, and ribbons. Each participant will be able to make personalized valentines or greeting cards to convey a message of love or friendship.
