Applique Wool Felting Workshop

Join instructor Pat Bayard in completing an applique felted wool project.  You’ll be making a table runner (pictured below). Class will run Monday thru Friday from 9am-12pm. Stay overnight or commute.

“Lake George Landscape” creating a “study” after Georgia O”Keeffe landscape paintings

lake-george-study-georgia-oCelebrating Georgia, this special art workshop is designed for the student to create a “study” after one of O’Keeffe’s Lake George paintings. A demonstration will be given and acrylic painting techniques will be shown. All materials are supplied, but feel free to bring your own acrylic paints and brushes, an apron, and inspiration! All students will go home with a finished 8×10” panel“study” of their own Lake George landscape. You will have fun learning, relaxing and creating art within the footsteps of Georgia here at Wiawaka. Color Your Own Silk Scarf

Coloring Mandalas

mandalaMandalas are symmetrical designs that represent the universe, and are used as a tool in meditation by many cultures. They are great tools for meditation and increasing self-awareness.  Designing your own mandala can be both inspirational and therapeutic.
This fun and creative class will guide you through the process of creating and coloring your own mandala masterpiece. No artist experience necessary. You will be drawing easy shapes/patterns and then filling them in the colors you choose to express yourself.

Wrist Mala Bead Class

DSC_0404.jpg Wrist Mala with BeadMala beads, prayer beads, worry beads or rosaries all make up a set of spiritual tools that date back to 8th century India, which have found their way into many of the world’s traditions of prayer, meditation and reflection. In Sanskrit language Mala means a garland of beads, and have been traditionally used for counting affirmations or manta repetitions in meditation.

In this wrist mala class you will learn the basics of how to make an adjustable wrist mala bracelet with a decorative Guru bead. We will be using various beads and you will also select your color of beautiful silk cording. Please join us for this fun class, and be ready to bring home your beautifully hand made wrist mala!

Creating with Clay
August 19 and 20, 10am-12pm daily (2-day class)
Come and experience the joyful process of hand building with clay!
In this fun and relaxing workshop we will learn about coil, pinch and slab techniques to create both functional and sculptural artwork.
On the first day we will work with the clay and will decorate the pieces with paint and mixed media on the following day. No experience necessary!
Presenter: Pam Golden is a sculptor who works with clay and mixed media. She created the Birch Women sculptures at Wiawaka. Pam is an experienced and enthusiastic art teacher who enjoys sharing the joy of creating with clay!

Printmaking with Patti Ferrara

Printmaking class, Wiawaka, 2015,Patti FerraraPrintmaking using acrylic paints, Gelli Plates, a printing press and the flora from Wiawaka’s garden to create original calligraph’s and monotypes. Paint a Wiawaka Roof Slate Tile with Patti Ferrara

Limited Supply! Decorate a “Welcome” slate roof tile. Stenciling, painting and other techniques in acrylic paints will be used. Each participant goes home with a finished personalized slate to hang on your wall or front door. All materials are supplied, just bring an apron and have fun!

Chinese Watercolor Painting with Patti Ferrara
