Stacey Morris is a self-described Recovering American who had struggled with weight and self-esteem issues for most of her life. Raised during the 70’s when there were few options for children with weight issues other than a steady course of shame and one deprivational diet after another, Stacey’s weight continued a steady climb before reaching an all-time high of 345 pounds in 2009.Using tools she discovered in her own transformation journey, Stacey will describe how she went from a 345-pound binge-eater who hid from life, to a who she is today: A woman who is 180 pounds lighter, has learned to live with reality on its terms, and who still enjoys food. She will detail what is involved in living a life of health and balance, underscoring that there is no one answer (which is very contrary to the advice the world of dieting and women’s magazines prescribe). It requires a combination of emotional honesty, clean eating, and movement. “I literally could have a Ph.D in my acquired knowledge regarding what doesn’t work with attaining inner peace and long-term weight loss,” says Morris. “I will teach my methods of unplugging from society’s bigotry and cluenessness and show the necessity of tending to the emotional wounds that simply want to be heard, and also the importance of reading the body’s hunger cues – that’s the best guide of all.”Cost: $8.00 (Free for Day Pass holders, Platinum Pass Holders and Overnight guests)
