Authentic Writing  w/Marta Szabo
July 18, 2018 9am-12pm

For over 20 years Authentic Writing has been creating a studio where writing happens. We work entirely from life, writing down the moments we have lived – both large and small — as they appear, letting the writing itself lead the way so that we are always entering new territory. No maps. No plans. We go for the concrete and the real, trusting the images that come to mind, putting them into words without hesitation. In this way the unique quality of each person’s story and writing voice quickly emerges.  Art gets made. Each participant will have time to write and the opportunity to read what has just been written. Responses to each other’s work is specifically designed to support each writer in going further and writing more.

Whether you have written for years or not at all, you will leave with a piece that only you could have written and an invigorated sense of who you are as a person, as a writer, and as an artist.

Cost: $10.00 workshop fee (included with day pass or platinum pass) Due upon registration. A $20 instructor fee is due at the beginning of class and must be paid directly to the instructor. CLASS IS SOLD OUT

Mine the Gold in your Memories
August 7, 2018 – 9am-12pm
Instructor: Marni Gillard

We hold and sometimes hide memories. A few become witty anecdotes, but others we unconsciously keep locked away. Our UNTOLD stories are  the most important, full of gold to be mined. Sharing memories with confidentiality and active appreciative listening, we begin to see experiences,  both bright and dark, with new eyes. Recollections contain layers of sparkling insight we extract as we tell. Any story becomes a treasure to share.

Marni Gillard, author of Storyteller, Storyteacher (Stenhouse) and the double CD, “Without a Splash: Diving into Childhood Memories,” has been writing, speaking, and eliciting tales with groups of all ages for over 30 years. Meet her at www.marnigillard.com

Cost: $10 (Free for overnight guests or platinum pass holders) There is a $20 instructor fee due at the beginning of class. Pay instructor Directly. To register call 518-668-9690 or click here.
